Breaking news: I bought a new whiteboard recently. I put it on the fridge, so we can use it to write notes to each other, because some of us are developing teenager schedules and are not here all the time.
First, it looked something like this, complete with two round magnets and a black pen:
After Gaze saw it, it looked like this:
I said it was cheerful.
The next morning, when I saw it, it looked like this:
I rolled my eyes. West Virginia jokes being a common form of humor in this place, I’ve heard a lot of them. (My favorite: Why don’t West Virginians eat a lot of M&Ms? Too hard to peel.)
Shortly after he got home from school that day, the whiteboard looked like this:
I laughed. “Very clever,” I said.
And the next day, it looked like this:
And then, this: And this:
And now, this:
I have the uncomfortable feeling that I may have created a monster. (A really funny one. But still.)
Hahahaaa – made my day!! thanks Gaze!!
He’s a hoot. And I didn’t tell him until after he’d drawn all those that I’d like to put them on the blog…
I think you may have a cartoonist on your hands! That boy has quite the creative streak – hope to see more from him here soon!
He loves cartoons, especially Get Fuzzy!
I’m sure I’ll put up more Gazetoons.
Woo-hoo, artist in the house!! Very fun all,
but I wasn’t quite sure about the squirrel one.
BTW, not too fond of them lately,
as we have several on our roof, trying to gnaw
their way into the attic. I go outside periodically
and hit the gutter downspouts with a broom
to scare them off and I know the neighbors think I’m nuts!!
He’s funny, Ann.
We don’t really have a squirrel problem since there are few large trees near the house, but I know a lot of people who hate squirrels…
OK, I get it now — Army squirrel — duh!! 🙂
Uh, yep, Army squirrel. Name’s Major Problem. (It makes me laugh!)
He’s got real flair for sure – but his sense of proportion may need more work? Where’s the space for the rest of the family to write their notes? : – ) : – )
Oh, like he thinks about THAT… he’s 12!
I have explained that artwork may be erased without prior notice, if circumstances should arise.
those are just wonderful!
thanks for sharing – and I think it’s great that he is wanting to communicate with you in that fashion – it’s creative, it’s fun, it’s just delightful!
xo
I think they’re pretty cool, too, A. He’s a quiet kid, but he loves to make people laugh… looks like he’s now added cartooning to his repertoire of really bad puns.
There are many creative thinkers living at your house! Obviously, they take after their novelist mom.
True, lots of creative thinkers in my house… probably none more so than Taz, when he’s trying to explain his way out of trouble…
Please keep taking pictures and do periodic updates. I think you have a very creative kid.
Hm… Maybe you should find that board (or a similar one) on Amazon and make some money advertising it every time you have those updates… 😉
He’s terrific!
Hey, I went to school in West Virginia!
Dear Joan: I’m so sorry. I’m sure that was a painful experience… Kidding. Kidding kidding!! (Our lawyer grew up in WV, and he’s no slouch.)
So who do West Virginians make fun of? I might have to ask Bobby, if you don’t know…
