Hi, and welcome to the site! You’ll find my musings here, ranging from perfume to novels, with a smattering of religion, parenting, gardening, and what-have-you. (Okay, it’s mostly what-have-you. What did you expect?)
I’m a woman in her early 40’s, married, with three children; I live on a beef cattle farm in Southwest Virginia. I’ve always lived within 300 miles of here, with occasional journeys to as far away as Poland, New Zealand, Australia, Czechoslovakia, Lake Tahoe, Maine, Austria, Vermont, Montreal, Malta, Rome and Hawaii. I work part-time doing books at our local auto parts store. I’m now staying home to work on writing a novel. I sing with a local community chorus for fun.
I like cats and pools; I don’t like snakes, rude people, or swimming in lakes. I love Jesus, my family, a good tomater sammich with real mayonnaise, beef vegetable soup, Mozart, Crowded House, used perfume bottles from eBay, crunchy autumn leaves, marching bands, sledding, and blooming redbud trees. My ceilings have dusty cobwebs on them, but I like to iron.
I have a BS in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting, but I wish I’d done a BA in American Literature. I write this blog because a) it’s fun and b) my family is showing distinct signs of their lack of appreciation for perfume. The perfume reviews you’ll find here are about 93-96% likely to be geared feminine, because That’s What I Wear.
Mals is not my real name. It’s a messed-up version of the acronym for a long fantasy title my college friends gave me, when we were all deep in the throes of The Belgariad and The Malloreon, by David Eddings (yeah, we’re THAT old). I will not be releasing my real name on the blog, or the real names of my family members, for safety reasons. The CEO is my husband. Bookworm’s my daughter; my sons are Gaze and Taz. My niece is Primrose, and my nephews are Curiosity, Doodlebug, and Choppers D. Bookworm’s boyfriend is referred to as PETBoy, short for Pretty Eyed Trumpet Boy.
